UI Libraries Student Employee Scholarship Fund

Established by UI Libraries staff and supported by numerous friends, this scholarship is awarded to UI Libraries student employees who work in one of the seven campus libraries. This is a scholarship for full-time undergraduate student employees who will be a continuing student in the following fall semester. You must be employed for a minimum of two semesters (which do not have to be consecutive) before you can apply for this award. This is a non-renewable scholarship for the academic year to pay educational expenses applied to the U-bill. Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, excellent job performance, and be in good standing with the University.

*The University Libraries includes the Main Library, Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, and the Art, Sciences, Business, Engineering, and Music libraries. Students employed in the Law Library or other campus departmental libraries are not eligible, unless also employed at one of the listed University Libraries.

  2. You must submit a 500-word essay which will be evaluated on storytelling, relevance, and enthusiasm. Choose ONE of the following topics for your essay: 1) What aspect of your work in the UI Libraries has had the greatest impact on you? How so? 2) Share your most interesting story about working in the UI Libraries; or, 3) Drawing from your insights and experiences from working at the UI Libraries, share how you have helped/can help contribute to fostering an inclusive community of belonging and success at the University of Iowa. (Note that your essay should not be a description or analysis of your job duties at the library.)
