Advantage Iowa Award

This is a diversity outreach scholarship for new incoming first-year students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The award is based on merit (standardized test scores and GPA). Contributing criteria also includes students who are from historically underrepresented populations (African American, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander, Multiracial) at the University of Iowa, or participation in a federally funded Upward Bound program.

Renewable for an additional three years or until you receive your bachelor’s degree (whichever comes first). You must maintain continuous full-time enrollment at the University of Iowa (fall and spring terms) and a minimum 2.00 UI GPA, as well as meet all additional requirements listed here. Renewal reviews are done at the end of each semester.

The Advantage Iowa Award is awarded automatically to eligible students upon admission. Recipients will be notified by the UI Office of Admissions separate from the Iowa Scholarship Portal. Please take note of important deadlines provided on our Scholarship and Grant Policies webpage.

From $2,000 to 8,000 per year depending on merit. Amount may increase based on demonstrated financial need.
