Mark Shapiro Sports Journalism Scholarship

Annual scholarship for an incoming first-year out-of-state student enrolled in the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) who is interested in pursuing a career in sports media/communication and is in good academic standing. This scholarship is to provide support to students who demonstrate the School’s commitment to increasing opportunities for SJMC students to breakdown stereotypes and enable others to better understand persons of different races, ethnicities, or other traits. Scholarship is renewable annually up through the student’s fourth year as long as they remain in good academic standing and in the SJMC major.
