Jonna Rusk Outstanding Leader Memorial Scholarship

This gift is in memory of Diane and Steven’s late daughter, Jonna Irene Rusk. Jonna was entering her fourth year at the University of Iowa and studied health sciences, aging, and nursing. Jonna believed every human should be empowered to be who they are, free to exist as they are, and to have access to healthcare and basic needs. She found community and enriching leadership experiences through student employment with Recreational Services. Jonna was a head lifeguard for the University of Iowa Recreation Services and spent much of her time volunteering in the community.

The University of Iowa department of Recreational Services is an integral part of the Hawkeye tradition. With a mission of providing diverse recreational experiences that encourage active lifestyles, the department promotes and coordinates campus-wide competitive and recreational activities that bring in over 1 million visits annually. Our department is comprised of 7 key areas including adventure recreation, aquatics, facility operations, fitness, rowing, sport programs, and tennis. Together we are proud to be the destination for recreation in the community.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Recipients must be a University of Iowa Student
• Recipients must be employed by the University of Iowa Recreational Services Department (minimum 6 months).

Students are not required to submit a FAFSA to be considered for this award.
