Study Abroad Need-Based Scholarship

The Study Abroad office offers a limited number of need-based scholarships to study abroad program participants. Awards range from $250 to $4,000 (fall/spring semester)/$250 to $3,000 (summer/winter session) depending on the session and available funding. To be eligible for a need-based scholarship, a student must:

  • be an undergraduate, enrolled in a degree program at the University of Iowa,
  • be in good academic standing,
  • receive some form of financial aid as indicated on the UI Financial Aid Award Summary, and
  • earn credit that counts toward degree requirements.

You must have submitted the current academic year’s FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to the University of Iowa. Scholarships are determined by comparing the financial need/aid figures and are awarded on the basis of relative need.

Deadlines:

  • Winter: October 1
  • Spring: October 31
  • Summer: March 1
