The Mark Shapiro Scholarship

Fund will be used to provide an annual scholarship to a deserving out-of-state student enrolled in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) who is interested in a career in sports media/communication and is in good academic standing. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide support to a student who demonstrates the ability to break down stereotypes and enable others to better understand persons of different backgrounds. The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming first-year student and will be renewable through their fourth year as long as they remain in good academic standing and meet the other award criteria.
