Miriam Gelfand Undergraduate Translation Award

One award of $1,000 available for the Best Translation Project. This award is reserved for students majoring in BA in Translation. Please submit a Degree Audit from MyUI and a cover letter explaining your Translation project (when completed, summary of project and outcomes, etc.). You may also upload supporting documents for your project with your cover letter (1 pdf). Winning projects may be eligible for inclusion in one of the Translation Programs’ publication

  1. Transcript: Upload your most updated transcript, including a statement of your GPA in the College of Liberal Arts and in the major. This can be a printout of your most recent Degree Audit from MyUI.
  2. Best Undergraduate Translation Award: This award is reserved for Translation majors only. Please submit your translation manuscript (2500 words maximum) and a one-page cover letter that includes information about your translation, approach and, if applicable, the name of the UI Translation class for which you completed the translation (500 words maximum). Applicants must submit a Degree Audit from MyUI. Winning projects may be eligible for inclusion in one of the Translation Programs’ publications. Please include a copy of the source text; this will not count towards the maximum word count. Translation, cover letter, and source text should be submitted as one PDF.
  3. Cover Letter: Please include a one-page cover letter that includes information about your choice of essay topic, and, if applicable, which UI Translation class you completed the essay for (500 words maximum).
