Harry Ostrander Legacy Scholarship
Harry Ostrander was hired to lead the University of Iowa’s Campus Recreation Program in 1969. Harry served as the Director of the Department for 44 years and retired as the Director of Recreational Services in 2013. The Harry Ostrander Legacy Scholarship was established to honor the lasting impact Harry has left on Recreational Services at Iowa through his leadership and dedication. Harry was known for his vision in developing top rated facilities, his commitment to staff and students, and his genuine care for people. This scholarship recognizes students who embody his values of leadership, teamwork, and service to others.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must currently work for Recreational Services in any student position.
- Applicants must be employed by the University of Iowa Department of Recreational Services for a minimum of six months by the application deadline.
- Applicants must be majoring or minoring in Sport and Recreation Management.
- Students must be an upperclassman (at least a junior), and have one full academic semester remaining, fall and spring semesters. Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply.
