The University of Iowa has hundreds of scholarship opportunities available. Opportunities can be a combination of general scholarships (open to all students) and departmental scholarships (restricted to students within a specific major or field of study). Scholarships may be recommended to you at different times throughout the year as applications become available, so we suggest visiting the Iowa Scholarship Portal often.

NOTE: The scholarships listed below have not been matched to you. Rather, this section lists scholarships available regardless of eligibility. To see applications/opportunities matched or recommended specifically to you (the student), you must log in and complete the General Application.

To be considered for scholarships that require financial need, you must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. Additional information on filing a FAFSA is available from the Office of Student Financial Aid’s website.

Admitted and currently enrolled students: Sign in using your Hawk ID and password to begin the scholarship application process. Once logged in, the system will automatically direct you to required applications.

*Automatch — If this term is noted under “Actions” below, students are automatically matched to be considered for these opportunities, if eligible, after completing their General Application and college or department level applications. College and department level applications are automatically made available to students after completing their General Application. Not all departments have additional applications, so depending on a student’s program of study, they may or may not have one presented to them.
