Ray Collins Scholarship

This fund is used to support scholarships to deserving students in the College of Engineering and is meant to honor the legacy of Ray Collins (1923-2005) who understood the importance of communication skills to the engineering profession and felt his own career was advanced due to his abilities to communicate and work in a team environment. With this in mind, preference is given to students who serve as peer consultants in the Hanson Center for Technical Communication – a job that involves advising their fellow engineering students who seek editing support on writing projects assigned in their engineering courses. Also, students considered for this award should be Iowa residents who are in need of financial support to complete their engineering education. The award is renewable as long as the recipient continues to qualify under the specified criteria.
